High Meadow Songs is a collection of songs from artists in the Hudson Valley to benefit High Meadow Arts, Inc. a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing excellent arts education to local children and families.
Conceived by singer/musician Elizabeth Mitchell and local parent, Jodi Palinkas, the CD includes original and traditional songs from esteemed Hudson Valley musicians including: Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Mark Morgenstern, Medeski, Martin & Wood, Bill & Livia Vanaver with Artie Traum, Amy Poux, Rebecca Coupe Franks, Dog On Fleas and Elizabeth Mitchell + Family, Chase Pierson -- among many others!
Founded in 2005, the mission of High Meadow Arts, Inc. is to serve Ulster County, New York’s socio-economically diverse community of children with expansive, potent and vital experiences in the arts in our rural community. This CD fundraiser is to build HMA’s scholarship program. Priced for accessibility, HMA offers low-cost arts education as well as sponsoring children to attend its programs, serving local young people who may not have the opportunity to experience the arts as a regular part of their lives.
The High Meadow Performing Arts Center provides a venue for vital after-school arts and recreation program, a thriving summer arts camp and also seeks to support the creation of high quality professional theatre and freedom of expression in adults. Our workshops and events provide an artistic forum where emerging performing artists collaborate in a vital, professional and educational atmosphere and develop work to engage the surrounding diverse rural community.
High Meadow School has been the chief sponsor of High Meadow Arts, Inc. since its inception. Founded in 1984, High Meadow School is a learning community that is inclusive, tolerant, and strives to prepare students to be contributors and problem solvers in a diverse society. The School offers a challenging Pre K through 8th grade curriculum that engages students artistically, intellectually and socially, and nurtures the development of life long learning skills through inquiry, interaction, and creative initiative.
