HIGH MEADOW SONGS
ARTIST BIOS

Mimi Paturel has been singing and recording songs on her tape machine since she was 5. She made a demo with singer/songwriter Jules Shear and producer Stephen Hague at 16. During that time, she opened up for Dr. John and laid down tracks with Joey Eppard. Presently, she enjoys singing to her daughter, Katarina and to the public.

Story behind the song:

"All the Pretty Little Horses" was originally written by a slave who was unable to care for her baby because she was forced to care for her master's child. Supposedly she would sing this song to her master's child. Over the decades, artists such as Peter, Paul & Mary, Odetta, Joan Baez, and Nick Cave covered this song, some omitting the gruesome lyrics in the second verse, some not.
