About the Course
Welcome to Circus Arts! This class will offer the opportunity to learn basic tumbling including ground and partner acrobatics like cartwheels and dive rolls, clowning- including pratfalls and character development, and beginning aerial apparatus. We will also incorporate injury prevention, flexibility and strength training. There is no class on October 31, November 21 and November 28.
Your Instructor
Gwyneth Larsen
Gwyneth Larsen is a theater creator, physical actress, and aerial performing arts teacher. She began her artistic journey in the Hudson Valley, performing aerial acts in caves and along cliffs with her brother Merlin during her teenage years. After graduating from the first class of High Meadow School, she went on to study at Sarah Lawrence College, focusing on Greek mythology, modern dance, and photography. Gwyneth’s career took off with the acclaimed music and dance company, The Vanaver Caravan, and later led her to perform worldwide with De La Guarda, Fuerza Bruta, and The Metropolitan Opera. She has also worked in film and television as a stuntwoman, doubling for stars such as Madonna and Megan Fox. A founding member of AiRealistic, she has played a significant role in choreographing and creating aerial performances.
Together with her partner, Billy Mulholland, Gwyneth co-founded 5th Wall Studio, an artist residency and aerial arts center in Brooklyn, which also operates in the summers at Stone Mountain Farm in Rosendale, NY. She directs the Center at Stone Mountain, a non-profit organization that fosters creative exploration.
Billy Mulholland is a former National Team gymnast turned dancer, actor, and circus performer. His extensive career includes performances with De La Guarda, Fuerza Bruta, Cirque du Soleil, Pilobolus, the Metropolitan Opera, and in multiple productions by Robert Lepage. As a stuntman, he has appeared in both film and television. With Gwyneth, Billy co-founded AiRealistic, where they collaborated on creating large-scale aerial performances for notable directors such as Julie Taymor and Keith Warner. Driven by a passion for blending genres and teaching transformative movement, Billy established 5th Wall Studio with Gwyneth to push the boundaries of live performance.
