LOWER SCHOOL
Kids learn best they are happy at school and find learning exciting! In the lower school, students co-create classroom rules. Morning meetings and closing meetings provide venues for social-emotional learning. At High Meadow, we foster opportunities for identity development, and help students see themselves as part of a larger community.

As students grow their skills in research, inquiry, and knowledge sharing, we continue to prioritize emotional well-being and respectful community building as the center of all of our work. With relationships across grades, students step fully into our culture of critical thinking, problem solving, self-expression, and community care.

The Lower School includes:
-
Emphasis on the natural world, using our campus for field study, science instruction, and outdoor play
-
Smaller class sizes for individualized learning and support
-
Alignment with NY State learning standards in a student-centered, arts-focused environment
